Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 10 awards are offered each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a valid U.S. mailing address and attend a U.S. postsecondary institution.
  3. Must be a high school senior.
  4. Must be a member of FFA.
  5. Must be less than 23 years of age at time of application.
  6. Must plan to enroll full time (actively attending classes and enrolled in 12 or more credit hours).
  7. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  8. Must be a resident of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, or West Virginia.
  9. Must pursue a four-year degree in one of the following areas of agriculture: business management, communications, economics, finance and sales and marketing, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanization, or agriculture power & equipment. Students may also major in communications, engineering, or transportation; it is preferable that these majors be related to railroad, trucking, or logistics.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors who are members of Future Farmers of America and residents of FL, GA, IL, KY, MD, NY, OH, SC, TN, and WV. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and major in select areas of agriculture or fields related to railroad, trucking or logistics.

Additional Information: All applicants for this award must exhibit strong leadership skills. Please note: Students are eligible for only one scholarship as a high school senior and only one scholarship while enrolled in a postsecondary institution. Under no circumstances should a student apply twice at the same grade level. The scholarship award process is automated. Scholarship recipients are selected based on individual applications meeting eligibility and sponsor criteria requirements. Applications are scored based on the following rubric: academic achievement, 30 points maximum; leadership, 30 points maximum; community service, 10 points maximum; Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), 30 points maximum. Selectors conduct a thorough visual review to determine the recipient(s) once narrowed down to only the top candidates. All notifications will be sent out at the end of May following the selection process. In addition, a listing of all recipients will be posted on the FFA website by May 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for three additional years if the recipient maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. All scholarships are paid with the understanding that, unless otherwise indicated, the money will be used for tuition, fees, books, and equipment required for classes to attain a vocational diploma or college degree from a postsecondary vocational/technical school or from a college or university.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

The scholarship application must be completed online via the student's Agricultural Career Network (AgCN) account. The student needs to submit only one application; he/she will automatically be considered for all awards for which he/she is qualified. The student should obtain the following information prior to completing the online application: school address; school phone number; FFA advisor's name and email address; grade point average on a 4.0 scale (unweighted); class rank; total number of students in his/her class; ACT and/or SAT scores; information for a local newspaper (including email address); and principal's name and email address. As part of the online application, the student must submit the following items: an essay of 1,000 characters or less (including spaces) describing his/her career, educational, and personal goals that he/she would like to achieve in the next 10 years; and a statement of 1,000 characters or less (including spaces) explaining why the scholarship committee should choose him/her as the scholarship recipient. To be considered for this award, the student must also complete the financial analysis section of the application. The online application must be submitted by 5 p.m. EST on January 15 for FFA advisor approval. After submission of the online application, the student must print the signature page and obtain appropriate endorsements. Please note: An FFA member must obtain FFA advisor electronic approval before the signature page can be printed. Non-FFA members may print the signature page immediately after submission of the online application. The signature page cannot be accessed after 11:59 p.m. EST on January 22.
