Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be fully accepted for admission at Georgia College & State University in a degree-seeking program.
  2. Must be an incoming college freshman.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must have immediate family/legal guardian currently residing in the United States.
  5. Preference will be given to students of Hispanic/Latino origin.
  6. This award is for U.S students.
  7. Must attend a college or university in Georgia.

Description: This award is available to incoming U.S. college freshmen who are planning to attend Georgia College & State University. Students must demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to students of Hispanic/Latino origin.

Additional Information: Students must have financial need as determined by the Georgia College Office of Financial Aid beyond the assistance of other scholarships received.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, renewable for three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $16,000.

Applications are available online from the Georgia College website. Please note: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, students must be accepted for admission to Georgia College. Admissions information for Georgia College is available online at www.gcsu.edu/admissions. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a resume that includes his/her most significant extracurricular and community activities and any awards/special recognitions; an essay of approximately one page and no more than 500 words on the topic listed on the application; a completed evaluation form; and a letter of recommendation from the person completing the evaluation form. The form and letter should be given to the student in a sealed envelope with the recommender's signature across the seal. Students must have a complete financial aid application on file with the Georgia College financial aid office, including a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The student should allow two to four weeks for processing of the FAFSA. The scholarship application and all required materials must be mailed to the address provided and be received by the deadline date.
