Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in the Pacific North West (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming).
  2. Must be a member of AIST or a dependent of an AIST member.
  3. Must be planning to pursue a career in the iron and steel industry.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited university.
  7. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors and undergraduate students in the Pacific North West (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming) who are planning to major in engineering and pursue a career in iron and steel technology. Applicants must be AIST members or dependents of AIST members.

Additional Information: The objectives of the AIST Northwest Member Chapter Scholarship are to reward and encourage a Pacific Northwest area student for their achievements and encourage them to consider the steel industry when selecting a career path. AIST Foundation Scholarship awards are intended to attract talented and dedicated students and to encourage them to pursue careers within the iron and steel industry. The AIST Foundation Board of Trustees administers the scholarships. Please note: Students must be AIST members or dependents of AIST members to apply for this award.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available online on the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a current resume with work experience and any extracurricular activities, noting any leadership positions; one essay of up to one page describing one of the topics on the application; a letter of recommendation; a copy of SAT and/or ACT test score reports; and a current high school or college transcript. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted by postal mail and must be received no later than the deadline date.
