Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be in the final two years of undergraduate study.
  4. Must be studying landscape architecture.
  5. Must have a grade point average of "C" or higher.
  6. Must attend a LAAB (Landscape Architecture Accrediting Board)-accredited institution. A list of accredited institutions is available online at www.asla.org/schools.aspx.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is for U.S. undergraduate students who are in their final two years of landscape architecture studies at a LAAB-accredited institution. Students must have a "C" grade point average and demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: This scholarship honors the memory of Courtland P. Paul, FASLA (1927-2003) and his lifelong commitment to the landscape architecture profession. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. This award must be used only to cover the costs of tuition and/or books within the school year of the award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

The application deadline has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to be the same as last year. The date shown here is tentative based on last year's deadline date. Please check back in December 2019 for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available on the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) website. The student must apply using the online application system. Please note: There is a $5 (USD) application fee required for each LAF scholarship. Students may apply for multiple awards; however, a separate application fee is required for each. Students must submit the following supplemental application materials for all LAF scholarships: a 4 x 6, 300-ppi color photo in .jpg format (must be a head shot with a plain background); a biography of 150 words of less that describes his/her background, current educational pursuits, future plans, and any other personal interests or activities (must be in PDF, Microsoft Word, or TXT); and a resume of two pages or less that lists education, professional experience, extracurricular activities, and honors and awards (in PDF). The following materials are required for this award, in addition to all aforementioned application materials: a completed Financial Aid Form; an essay of 500 words or less describing his/her aspirations, ability to surmount obstacles, high level of drive, and need for financial assistance (ind PDF); and two letters of recommendation from current professors who are familiar with his/her character and goals in pursuing an education in landscape architecture. The student will be required to provide contact information for the recommenders, who will be sent instructions regarding submission of the letters. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
