Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to six awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must major in accounting. The applicant must not yet be a CPA but plan to sit for the exam within three years.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must be a resident of Illinois.
  5. Must be enrolled in an Illinois college or university.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must enroll as a college senior or graduate student for the academic year following application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: College seniors or graduate students who are residents of Illinois currently enrolled in an accounting program at an Illinois institution with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible to apply for this award. Students must complete an equivalent of four years of education by Aug. 31, and plan to take additional courses in the following year in order to meet the requirements to sit for the CPA examination in Illinois.

Additional Information: Applicants must plan to sit for the CPA exam within three years of application date and demonstrate a course of study that reflects this goal. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need or other special circumstances. If a student receives a full-tuition waiver or reimbursement for tuition, he/she is not eligible for this scholarship. However, the society recognizes that students will likely not know about scholarships and other forms of support at the time of application, and it highly encourages students who anticipate need for financial support to apply.

Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online from the Illinois CPA Society website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit his/her most recent academic transcript, a resume, two letters of recommendation, and two essays of no more than 150 words each on the topics listed within the application. The applicant may respond to an optional essay for special circumstances. All applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
