Number of Awards & Eligibility: One or more awards will be provided annually by the local AABE chapter.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a minority student.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must reside in one of the following fifteen counties comprising the Kansas City metro area: Jackson, Clay, Platte, Johnson, Buchanan, Cass, Lafayette, Boone in Missouri and Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Douglas, Shawnee, Jefferson and Riley in Kansas.
  5. Must be pursuing a career in the energy industry through a major such as business, engineering, mathematics, or natural sciences.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The AABE William Grant Pinkard Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in the Kansas City metropolitan area who are pursuing a career in the energy, business or STEM industries. Students must be an underrepresented minority and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) local chapter is proud to sponsor the AABE William Grant Pinkard Scholarship. This scholarship is provided annually to minority students in Kansas City area who are planning to pursue a career in a field related to energy and energy generation. Eligible majors include, but are not limited to: business, mathematics, engineering, and natural sciences. Award selection will be based on a combination of all submitted materials, with special consideration given to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to a career in the energy industry, as well as students who show the highest levels of academic achievement. This award is managed and administered through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, a local area charity founded in 1978 with the mission of providing assistance and centralized resources for decentralized charitable causes and giving. Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually for community college students and up to $3,000 annually for university students. All awards will be paid out in two equal installments for the fall and semester. Awards are not renewable, but recipients may also be considered for national-level awards.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
