Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided each year the program is available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden or Hampshire Counties.
  2. Must be in the custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

Description: The Caleb L. Butler Scholarship Fund is available for high school seniors from Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden or Hampshire Counties who are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

  • Student Aid Report
Additional Information: The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers and awards the Caleb L. Butler Scholarship Fund, a scholarship designed to assist foster children and wards of the state who reside in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, or Hampshire Counties. During award selection, judges will give additional preference to applicants who are current or former residents of Hillcrest Educational Centers.

Award Amount: Scholarships are typically awarded in the amount of $1,000 and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications for the Albert S. and Anna E. Adams Scholarship Fund are available and accepted between January 1 and March 31. To apply for this scholarship, students must complete the online application at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts website. Completed application forms will also require students to submit a recent copy of transcripts as well as their current year Student Aid Report. The Student Aid report is obtained when the student completes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All applications must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
