Number of Awards & Eligibility: A minimum of five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must reside or study in the 50 United States.
  3. Must be a current high school senior or college freshman, sophomore, or junior.
  4. Must be 27 years of age or younger.
  5. Must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  6. Must demonstrate an active commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS and taking on roles of public service and leadership. Students must also plan to continue to find ways to make a difference in the epidemic through their careers or through public service opportunities after their education is complete.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who demonstrate an active commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS and taking on roles of public service and leadership. Students must be 27 years of age or younger, and must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: All applicants must demonstrate proven leadership skills, community involvement, personal merit and the desire to make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Both prior applicants and scholarship recipients are encouraged to reapply. Scholarship announcements are structured to be announced and awarded in advance of fall enrollment.

Award Amount: $2,500 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,750.

Applications will be available on the National AIDS Memorial Grove website on March 1. As part of the online application, the student must submit a brief personal statement explaining how the scholarship will assist him/her in achieving his/her academic goals. After submitting the online application, the student will receive an email with instructions for submitting additional components of the application. Those components are as follows: a written essay of 1,500 words or less addressing the topics listed online at www.aidsmemorial.org/uncategorized/scholarship-instructions; at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, program coordinator, supervisor/ally/community leader or other adult who is directly involved in the student's HIV/AIDS-related service, leadership, or field of study; and a transcript from his/her current high school or college showing overall grade point average (may also be from the last two semesters or three trimesters). The application and personal statement must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. PST on May 31.
