T. M. Yates
$1,000 annually, non-renewable.
One award offered annually.
There are no age limits and there are no minimum ACT, SAT, or grade point average requirements for this contest. Aspiring college students who are not quite sure of their path are strongly encouraged to participate. After an applicant's essay is determined to be eligible, it will be judged based on several criteria. Judges will value essays that are thoughtful, well-organized, and demonstrate both a distinct command of the English language and the student's "voice". Unique, coherent thoughts will be given more weight than proper grammar. The winning essay must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the book 'Signal Grace'. The winner will be selected in late August, and the winner will be notified within two weeks. Relatives and contractors of the contest sponsor are ineligible.
Applications are available online on T. M. Yates' website. In addition to the application form, each student must write an essay in English of 500 to 1,000 words on one of the current year's topics r ... sign up for full scholarship deadline information.
