Although public education may be newer to New Mexico — as up until late 1888 there were no public colleges or high schools, that doesn’t mean that the importance of a good education is not valued by its residents and students. In fact, New Mexico had the highest concentration of PhD holders of any state in the year 2000. But, education doesn’t always come at a small cost. That’s why scholarships for residents of New Mexico are a great way to help pay for college or grad school. Even if you aren’t a current resident of New Mexico but plan to attend a school in the state, such as University of New Mexico, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT), or New Mexico State University (NMSU), you may also be qualified for these scholarships for New Mexico students.
