Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a female.
  4. Must be enrolled full time.
  5. Must be a member of SWE.
  6. Must be a current college sophomore, junior, or senior, or graduate student. The student must be in a position to accept the scholarship for the school year in which it is being awarded.
  7. Must major in any field of engineering or computer science.
  8. First preference is for the applicant to attend a college/university within the Region F boundaries (Connecticut, Maine, Mass, New Hampshire, New York (upstate), Rhode Island, Vermont). Second preference is for the applicant to have a home address within the Region F boundaries.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. female college sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are majoring in engineering or computer science and are members of SWE. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; first preference will be given to students who attend schools within SWE Region F, and second preference will be given to students with home addresses within SWE Region F.

Application requirements for the Carol Stephens SWE Region F Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Acceptance letter (if req.)
  • Resume
Additional Information: Applications with financial need will be given preference. Applicants may not be current recipients of a renewable SWE scholarship or receiving full funding for education from another organization (such as members of the armed services attending US military academies and students receiving full reimbursement from an employer). The applicant must enroll or plan to enroll in a program accredited by ABET. Accreditation status for degree programs at specific schools can be found at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
