In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must plan to attend Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
  4. Must have taken an academically challenging high school curriculum.
  5. Successful applicants typically rank in the top 1 percent of their class and/or have an SAT score of 1500 or higher (math and critical reading sections only).

Description: This scholarship is available for international and U.S. high school seniors who plan to attend Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Successful applicants have pursued the most challenging curriculum available to them and have achieved grade point averages and SAT scores that are often in the top 1 percent of their class, with SAT-1 scores above 1500.

Additional Information: Nancy Susan Reynolds Scholars must be not only excellent students and promising scholars, but also creative leaders who are able to influence others in directions likely to benefit society. They will have achieved unusual distinction in the classroom and beyond. Further, Reynolds Scholars have typically been leaders in a variety of extracurricular pursuits and won recognition for their interests at the regional, state, or national level. Finalists are invited to campus for interviews and are notified by the end of March.

Award Amount: This scholarship covers the costs of tuition, fees, room and board, and includes an allowance for books and personal expenses. Scholars may receive up to $5,000 at least one summer for approved travel or study projects.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

To be considered for this award, the student must apply for admission to Wake Forest University (WFU). No separate scholarship application is required. Information on applying for admission is available on the WFU website. The student may apply for admission via paper or online application. The student may apply for admission via one of four ways: the WFU application; the Common Application; the Universal Application; or the College Foundation of North Carolina application. The Common and Universal applications each require a WFU-specific supplement form. The student must also submit the following materials: a $50 application fee; a completed 'Secondary School Report Form' (must be completed by his/her principal, college adviser, or guidance counselor); a completed 'Teacher Recommendation Form'; a completed 'Mid-Year School Report' form (must be completed his/her principal, college adviser, or guidance counselor). If the student wishes for ACT and/or SAT scores to be considered in his/her admissions application, he/she should submit documention for those as well. Please note: Early Decision and international students may have additional items to submit; they should visit the WFU website for more details. The student must submit the completed admissions application by Dec. 1 to be considered for scholarships. Please note: Students are encouraged to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the CSS PROFILE as well. The FAFSA is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices; the CSS PROFILE is available at https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/prf/index.jsp. The FAFSA and PROFILE must be submitted by Feb. 15.
