Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of eligible applicants and available funding.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  2. Must be an incoming first-time freshman.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be admitted to the University of Oregon.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Description: This award is for U.S. high school seniors who are planning to attend the University of Oregon. The student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the University of Oregon General University Scholarship for Freshmen Students are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • Essay
Additional Information: General University Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, and selection is highly competitive. They are made possible by the generous contributions of many individuals to the University of Oregon. Selection is based on the following criteria: academic performance based on review of transcripts from all past institutions; SAT I or ACT scores; extracurricular involvement; writing ability; and creativity as demonstrated in the essays. Freshmen recipients of General University Scholarships will be notified by April 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Students may re-apply each year in which they are eligible.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.
