  4. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  5. Must be a resident of or attending college in Texas.

Description: The Applied Hispanic Opportunity and Recognition Award (AHORA) is available for Hispanic undergraduate students who are majoring in engineering. Applicants must reside in and/or attend college in Texas.

Additional Information: The Hispanic Scholarship Consortium provides scholarships to Central Texas Hispanic students and offers a network of support that mentors and empowers scholars to graduate from college as workforce-ready leaders who are empowered and engaged in the community. In partnership with the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium, the Hispanics in Partnership at Applied Materials to provide this scholarship. The Hispanic Partnership at Applied Materials works to engage the community of Hispanic professionals at Applied Materials by developing networking opportunities, cultivating leadership skills, and by promoting educational opportunities, thus enabling a corporate partnership in diversity. To further this goal, the Applied Hispanic Opportunity and Recognition Award is provided annually to a Hispanic student who is studying engineering in Texas.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for up to four additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.

Information about this scholarship is available online on the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium website at the address provided. To be considered for an award, students must first register for an account with the online scholarship application portal. In addition to the completed online application, students must submit the following documents: Two essay responses to the questions listed on the application; a current resume; a listing of all community service hours completed; a copy of scanned, official transcripts; a copy of the student's FAFSA Student Aid Report; and email addresses of at least two individuals who can provide an electronic letter of reference for the applicant. International students and non-U.S. citizens must also provide evidence of legal residency. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All applications must be completed online, on or before the deadline date.
