Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must have an SAT score of 1150 or higher (600 in math and 550 in verbal) OR an ACT score of 29 in math and 25 in English.
  7. Must enroll in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  8. Must enroll in an ABET-accredited engineering program in Texas. For a listing of eligible colleges, please visit: www.abet.org/accrediteac.asp.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors planning to enroll full time in an ABET-accredited engineering program in Texas are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and an SAT score of 1150 or higher OR an ACT math score of 29 or higher and an ACT English score of 25 or higher.

Additional Information: Potential honorees are selected from applications forwarded by chapter scholarship coordinators. The TSPE State Scholarship Committee evaluates the applications and chooses one applicant from each TSPE region to receive a scholarship. Students may be required to participate in an in-person interview for chapter-level awards. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic record, achievement, leadership and career goals.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: a 750-word essay based on one of the three questions found on page three of the application; two recommendations from non-relatives (high school teachers preferred); an official transcript (no photocopies will be accepted and a school counselor must verify current courses). The student should mail or deliver the application and all supporting materials to his/her local chapter scholarship coordinator. A listing of all scholarship coordinators is available on the TSPE website. All applications and supporting materials must be postmarked by the deadline date or delivered by the deadline date.
