To keep the funds going, one must enroll for at least 12 semester hours and maintain their grade point average at 2.5 or higher.
Scholarships for Graduate Students in Texas
If you are pursuing a master’s degree, MBA, PhD, law or medical school in TX, you may find scholarships. Many graduate schools offer them on the basis of need or merit. University of Houston offers over 100 merit awards through the MBA Bauer Excellence Initiative. From their business school, these go to qualified MBA students who study full time. The award pays up to $10,000. Selectees from out of state may qualify for in state rates. There is no separate application form. But only admitted students may receive the funds.

University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business offers more than 100 merit-based scholarships to well qualified Full-Time MBA and Professional MBA students.
This award is available to honorably discharged or separated Texas veterans and to eligible dependent children and spouses of Texas veterans who are planning to attend a public Texas college or university.
U.S. undergraduate students who are enrolled in a hospitality management program and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for this award. Applicants must attend and be nominated by an American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) member school.
This award will be given to applicants in the floral industry who want to attend the Texas State Florists’ Association Texas Certified Florists Program. The applicant must be a resident of Texas and a U.S. citizen.
This scholarship is available for high school seniors and current college students who are residents of Texas, or attend high school or college in Texas. Students must be under the age of 24 and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
This scholarship is available for Hispanic law and pre-law students who are residents of, or attending a college, university, or law school in one of the following Texas counties: Travis, Hays, or Williamson.
The Christians in Journalism Scholarship is provided annually for undergraduate students who are majoring in journalism at the University of Texas, Austin. Applicants must be born-again Christians and must demonstrate both activity within their church and strong academic performance.
