Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Vermont.
  4. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a certificate, postsecondary non-degree, or undergraduate degree program.
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  6. Must demonstrate community involvement/service.

Description: This scholarship is open to Vermont students who are pursuing a certificate, postsecondary non-degree, or undergraduate degree program. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate financial need, and demonstrate community involvement/service.

Additional Information: Don Vickers served as president and CEO of Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) a full quarter-century from 1988 to 2013. He joined VSAC in 1971 as director of the state grant programs. When he retired from VSAC in June 2013, his colleagues, friends, and staff contributed to an endowment for the purpose of awarding one or more scholarships in his honor. Please note: This scholarship is funded by an endowment subject to laws restricting disbursements under certain yield scenarios; as a result, there can be no guarantee of a scholarship award for the upcoming academic year. Applicants must attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding, and must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on financial need, application documents, and academic achievement.

Award Amount: Up to $1,000 annually, may be renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
