Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. *Please note: The number of awards is based on the amount of donations received.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a woman.
  3. Must be a single parent.
  4. Must be a resident of Spokane, Washington.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must attend or plan to attend Spokane Community College, Spokane Falls Community College, or Eastern Washington University.
  7. Must plan to enroll on a full-time basis.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for single mothers residing in Spokane Washington. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and plan to enroll full time in an undergraduate program at Spokane Community College, Spokane Falls Community College, or Eastern Washington University.

Additional Information: The Vivian Winston Scholarship was established to assist women students and allow them to improve their lives, the lives of their children, and their communities while overcoming the financial challenges of the cost of both tuition and child care.

Award Amount: Scholarships typically range from between $1,000 and $3,000. All awards are provided annually and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available on the Women Helping Women website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must submit the following materials: verification of all income (including wages, child support, financial aid, or tax return); verification of full time enrollment (schedule of classes, bursar bill); a personal statement addressing her personal circumstances with supporting documentation; two letters of recommendation, one letter must be completed by a professor from the applicant's school; and a cover letter that includes the applicant's name, address, and contact phone number. Applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the school's desigated scholarship coordinator. Incomplete documentation packages, and applications sent to the Women Helping Women main office will not be accepted.
