Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  3. Must be a student or professional member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
  4. Must be a full-time student.
  5. Must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program.
  6. Must be a resident of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  8. Must have completed a minimum of one year in a dental hygiene associate's degree or certificate curriculum prior to receiving this scholarship. Students entering their first year of a dental hygiene program are not eligible; students who are in the process of completing their first year at time of application may apply.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. students who are residents of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. Students must have completed a minimum of one year of an accredited dental hygiene certificate/associate's program with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and must be professional or student members of American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in memory of Carol Bauhs Benson. For all non-merit-based awards (i.e., those without the word "merit" in the name of the award), the student must have a financial need of $1,500 or more and must electronically sign the application attesting to such need. Scholarships are awarded based on how well the applicant demonstrates the goal or achievement of the scholarship for which he/she applies. Recipients are announced on July 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
