Number of Awards & Eligibility: Ten awards will be provided this year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be legally blind or be visually impared so that the best possible correction results in visual acuity of 20/70 or less or the field of vision is 20 degrees or less.
  3. Must be a resident of Wisconsin.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.
  6. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time or part time.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate students and graduate students in Wisconsin with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, who are legally blind or significantly visually impaired.

Additional Information: The mission of the Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired (WCB&VI) is to promote the dignity and independence of people in Wisconsin who are blind and visually impaired by providing services, advocating legislation and educating the general public. WCB&VI is funded through an annual drive, private grants and bequests. A banquet will be held in Madison in May to present the awards, and winners are expected to attend if at all possible.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online on the Wisconsin Council for the Blind & Visually Impaired (WCB&VI) website. In addition to the application form, the student must submit the following: a photo-copy of his/her Wisconsin state identification card; a copy of his/her current semester schedule; a "Verification of Vision" form signed and dated by a qualified physician; and an official transcript with the school registrar's seal. Incoming freshman must also include a high school transcript to provide verification of grade point average, and returning college students must also include a college transcript verifying enrollment status. Applicants enrolling or enrolled in the Wisconsin Business Enterprise Program must include a letter of recommendation. All application materials must be postmarked and submitted in one envelope by the deadline date.
