Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have been diagnosed with hemophilia A or B.
  4. Must be a full-time student.
  5. Must be a high school senior, undergraduate, and graduate student at the time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for all high school seniors, undergraduate students and graduate students who have been diagnosed with hemophilia or Von Willebrands disease or other bleeding disorder. The student must be a U.S. citizen.

Application requirements for the Kevin Child Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The recipient will be chosen on the basis of academic performance, participation in school or community activities, and the quality of his/her essay. A committee of representatives of the Child family makes the selection of the scholarship recipient. In no instance does any officer or employee of the National Hemophilia Foundation take part in the selection.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the National Hemophilia Foundation website by selecting "Scholarships" from the "Community Resource" menu and clicking on the scholarship's title. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: an official transcript; one letter of recommendation from non-family member; and a one-page essay detailing his/her occupational objectives and goals in life and describing how his/her educational program will meet those objectives. All applications and supporting materials must be mailed to the address provided and postmarked by the deadline date.
