Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four scholarships are awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a current member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  2. Must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours towards pursuing a degree
  3. Must achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) or 4.5 (out of 5.0) based on the most recently completed 24 credit hours.
  4. Must have volunteer, work and/or leadership experience.

Description: The AHIMA Foundation supports current and emerging health information management professionals in pursuit of associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in health information and related programs.

Additional Information: AHIMA Foundation is to attract and support new talent in the health information management (HIM) industry. To reach this goal, they aim to improve educational opportunities for current and future HIM professionals through scholarships. Each year, the AHIMA Foundation offers merit scholarships to currently enrolled outstanding undergraduates in HIM and health information technology (HIT) as well as those professionals pursuing master's or doctoral degrees in areas related to health information.

Award Amount: The winner of the AHIMA Foundation Merit Scholarships will receive $1,000, $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
