Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher to apply for this award.
  4. Must be a Muslim.
  5. Must be an active member of his/her community.
  6. Must be a current college junior or older to apply for this undergraduate and/or graduate award.
  7. Must major in an Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF)-supported field of study, including humanities, social sciences, liberal arts, or law. For a detailed list of accepted majors, please visit islamicscholarshipfund.org/about/isf-supported-fields/ .
  8. Must be affiliated with the Islamic Institute of Orange County (IIOC).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. Muslim students who are college juniors or graduate students majoring in humanities, social sciences, liberal arts, or law are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be affiliated with the Islamic Institute of Orange County (IIOC).

Application requirements for the ISF-IIOC Scholarship are:

Additional Information: SF’s Selection Committee which is composed of university professors, non-profit organization leaders and community members with years of experience in the academic and non-profit world review and score applications from April to June. Applicant finalists with the highest score are scheduled for web-based video interviews during the month of July. Final selections are made and all applicants are notified end of July. Within one year upon receiving an award, all awardees must agree to complete a certain number of hours of volunteer service in their respective field of studies under the supervision of ISF. The recipient must commit a total of 40-100 hours depending on the amount and type of scholarship.

Award Amount: $2,000 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable, awarded at the end of July. The amount of each scholarship will be determined based on ISF’s funding and applicants’ qualifications. With certain exceptions, ISF’s policy is to send checks directly to an applicant’s university. Exceptions can be made if the awards affect the applicant’s financial status.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online from the Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF) website. In order to apply, the student must first create an account. In addition to the completed electronic application, the student must submit transcripts; two recommendation requests to representatives of an academic institutions, leaders of a Muslim organization or mosque, or employers; and an essay. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. PDT on the deadline date.
