In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must openly identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.
  4. Must intend to enroll in an accredited educational institution.

Additional Information: Emphasis in judging will be placed on a goal statement that includes specific information on experience or steps taken toward the goal, persuasiveness (e.g., how past achievements/experiences and future planning increase the probability of reaching his/her goal), why he/she think that he/she will succeed, and also grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Additional information can be found on the Mark J. Glancey and John G. Gray LGBT Scholarship Facebook page. In addition to the completed application, students must submit an essay of no more than 550 words explaining their career, academic and/or vocational goals and how they plan to achieve those goals, and must state that they identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Please note: the essay must not include any personal identifying information, including names and addresses. The completed application form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on the deadline date.
