Number of Awards & Eligibility: All eligible applicants will receive an award.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have completed one full year of service in the Illinois National Guard and meet one of the two following criteria for being a member of the Illinois National Guard: be active in the Illinois National Guard; or have been active in the Illinois National Guard for at least five consecutive years and have been called to federal active duty for at least six months and be within the twelve-month period immediately following his/her discharge from the Illinois National Guard.
  3. Must be a resident of Illinois.
  4. Must attend a public two- or four-year college in Illinois.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Description: This award is for Illinois resident students who are members of the Illinois National Guard planning to attend a public or private college in Illinois.

Additional Information: This grant is funded by the state of Illinois to provide assistance to students who are members of the Illinois National Guard. The grant help pays for the cost of tuition and mandatory fees at an ISAC-approved Illinois postsecondary institution. A list of approved institutions can be found online at the ISAC website. For more information students should contact ISAC, his/her National Guard unit, or his/her college financial aid office.

Award Amount: This award can pay for eligible tuition and certain fees for undergraduate or graduate study at Illinois 2- or 4-year public colleges. This award can pay for eligible tuition and certain fees for undergraduate or graduate study at any Illinois public college or community college. Awards can be used for a maximum of the equivalent of four academic years of full-time enrollment. Recipients must re-apply each year. Students should contact the financial aid office at his/her college to determine what portion of the total tuition and fees will be covered by this award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,300.

The Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant application is available online as an interactive application from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission College Zone (ISAC) website. Completed applications must be submitted on or before the applicable deadline date. To receive full-year consideration, applications must be received on or before October 1 of the academic year. For spring- and summer-term consideration, the deadline date is March 1. For summer-term consideration only, applications must be received on or before June 15. Applications received by ISAC after these deadline dates will be processed only for subsequent terms, with June 15 as the final date of acceptance for the summer term.
