Description: The Columbia University Need-Based Financial Aid Program provides grants and scholarship funding for students who are accepted to attend and have unmet financial need. The goal of the program is to eliminate loans as a source of college funding for all enrolled students.

Additional Information: With the goal of making world class education more affordable to academically deserving students of all income ranges, Columbia University has committed to providing full financial support to all accepted students.

Award Amount: The average award amount in the prior academic year was $52,073. Your individual amount may vary depending on parental and household income. Students from households making less than $60,000 are not expected to contribute to tuition and students from households with incomes over $100,000 are also provided with generous aid designed to eliminate all need for student loans. Awards are renewable for all four years of undergraduate study. Additional funding is available through work study programs and for enrichment projects and activities such as research and study abroad.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $52,073.

Please Note: Students must first be accepted for enrollment at Columbia University in the City of New York before applying for need-based aid. Columbia University in the City of New York accepts the following applications for admission: the Common Application; the Coalition Application; and the QuestBridge Application for QuestBridge finalists. All admissions applications must include the following: high school transcripts; high school counselor’s recommendation; mid-year report (for senior year); standardized test scores (ACT and/or SAT); and teacher recommendations. To be considered for admissions, all applications must be received no later than the deadline date. For maximum consideration, students are encouraged to apply by the Early Decision deadline of November 1. Students who become accepted to Columbia University must also complete the financial aid application no later than the final deadline of February 15.
