Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on funding. On average, approximately 11 awards are offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Conway County, Arkansas.
  4. Must be single, legally separated, divorced or widowed.
  5. Must be the head of the household.
  6. Must have custody of a child or children under the age of 18.
  7. Must be a low-income person at or near the poverty level.
  8. Must be pursuing an undergraduate course of study full or part time to ensure a better standard of living for his/her family. The student cannot already have earned an undergraduate degree.
  9. Must be a high school graduate or older at time of application.

Description: This award is for need-based single parents in Conway County, Arkansas. The student must be a high school graduate and pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applicants must have at least a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Your household income must not be more than 250% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. Click here to learn more and apply today!

Application requirements for the Conway County Single Parent Scholarship are:

  • Personal statement
  • Proof of enrollment/acceptance
Additional Information: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide supplemental financial assistance to those single parents who are pursuing a course of instruction which will improve their income-earning potentials. Students must be recipients of a Pell Grant or be in the process of applying for one. Application for the Pell Grant is made by filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable. Recipients may reapply for scholarship assistance each semester of study, but preference will be given to those students beginning their academic careers. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, utility bills, car maintenance, child care, etc.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
