Number of Awards & Eligibility: 30 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and/or graduate award.
  3. Must be an active member of the California School Employees Association.
  4. Must be a resident of California.
  5. Must be enrolled either part time or full time.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: Undergraduate or graduate students who are residents of California and active members of the California School Employees Association are eligible for this award. Applications are available on the California School Employee Association (CSEA) website only to members upon the creation of an account.

Application requirements for the CSEA Member Career Grant are:

Additional Information: Applicants must either be enrolled in an accredited school of higher education for the fall term, or plan to enroll for the semester/quarter immediately following receipt of the grant. Applicants must be working toward a definitive degree or a specific career goal. Grants are awarded on the basis of need, career goals and objectives, citizenship (including leadership, character, and service), and any CSEA activities. Grant payments will be made to either the recipient or the school/college upon submission of proof of enrollment. The term of the grant will run for one full year of continued enrollment.

Award Amount: $1,000 offered annually, renewable for one additional year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available to members on the California School Employee Association (CSEA) at the CSEA website. In addition to the completed application, the following materials must be included: two letters of recommendation; a photo of the applicant; and a Student Aid Report (SAR) obtained from completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The first letter of recommendation is for a GPA and academic record certification. The individual writing this letter should include a copy of the applicant's transcript. The second letter of recommendation should be written by someone who knows the applicant personally and can speak to the quality of their character and personality including leadership potential, capacity for growth, motivation, discipline & work habits, self-confidence, independence, and initiative. Parents and relatives may not submit letters of recommendation. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Scholarship applications will be accepted beginning June 1. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted online by midnight PST on the deadline date.
