In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Indiana.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  4. Must plan to attend an eligible Indiana college or university.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED and be enrolled in a course of study leading to an associate's or first bachelor's degree.
  7. Must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.0 or higher.
  8. Must have financial need as defined by the Commission for Indiana's Higher Education.

Additional Information: The Frank O'Bannon Grant Program (formerly the Indiana Higher Education Grant), is designed to provide access for Hoosier students to attend eligible postsecondary institutions. The program receives its funding through appropriations made by the Indiana General Assembly. The grants, targeted to tuition and regularly assessed fees, are need-based and do not require repayment.

Award Amount: Exact award amounts are determined by the financial aid office based on tuition cost and according to the student's diploma type. Students should contact his her college's financial aid office for additional information. Awards may be received for a total of four years. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress, as determined by the institution, and complete the FAFSA each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,600.

Additional information about this award is available from the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI) website. To apply, interested students must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the document that SSACI utilizes in calculating the student's state grant eligibility. The FAFSA must be received by the Federal Processor for state scholarship/grant consideration after January 1st but on or before March 10th each year. In addition to a complete application, each participating college or university may require students to submit additional forms or supplemental information before scholarship eligibility can be determined.
