Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking or vocational program at time of application.
  3. Must have a blood clotting disorder.

Description: This scholarship is available to any U.S. student with a bleeding disorder who is able to demonstrate commitment to improving the quality of his/her life by pursuing his/her goals with determination.

Application requirements for the Hemophilia Federation of America Educational Scholarship are:

  • Application form

  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Tax Returns
  • Proof of academics/enrollment
  • Interview (may be required)
Additional Information: Eligible applicants must demonstrate their commitment to improving the quality of their life by pursuing their goals with determination.

Award Amount: $2,000 to $4,000 annually, non-renewable. All recipients are invited to reapply in subsequent years for renewal as long as they are in good academic standing. This renewal will not be automatic, as each year's applicants will be independently weighed.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available online on the Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a one-page essay on his/her goals and aspirations, and how the blood clotting community has played a part in his/her life; two letters of reference, one professional (i.e., clergy, teacher, etc.) and one from an HTC or physician; proof of academic standing; proof of enrollment; and a statement of financial need and his/her previous year's tax return (if a minor, the parent(s)' tax return). The complete application packet must be submitted online by the deadline date. Please note: A personal interview may be required at the discretion of the committee, and may be done by one or more committee members.
