Number of Awards & Eligibility: 50 awards are offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must reside in Windham County, Vermont. Preference is given to residents of Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, Newfane, and Putney.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  4. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement.

Description: This scholarship is available for Vermont high school seniors and current undergraduate students who reside in Windham County (preference to residents of Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, Newfane, and Putney). Students must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established to enable qualified students to further their education at the postsecondary undergraduate level and/or to prepare themselves for career changes that require undergraduate-level coursework. Applicants must demonstrate financial need to qualify. Selection is based on application documents, financial need, academic achievement, and a personal interview (if necessary).

Award Amount: $500 to $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $75,000.

Applications are available from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) website. Applications may be completed either online or in paper form beginning on November 1. Please note: The student is only required to submit one application for all scholarships for which he/she wishes to apply. In addition, if a particular document is required for more than one scholarship, the student need only submit one copy of that document. To apply, the student must complete and submit the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application and submit the following materials: a letter of recommendation; an essay; and official transcripts. NOTE: Required additional materials MUST conform to the detailed instructions in the VSAC Scholarships Booklet. The student is highly encouraged to review the booklet thoroughly when assembling materials. Electronic applications and any digital versions of supplemental materials must be submitted by midnight on the deadline date. Paper applications or any supplemental materials in paper form must be postmarked by the deadline date.
