Description: The Jack G. Lezman Scholarship Contest is available for graduating high school seniors who submit a video on bankruptcy law or an essay on how lawyers can help to make the world a better place. Preference is given to students with unmet financial need and students who demonstrate an interest in law.

Application requirements for the Jack G. Lezman Scholarship Contest are:

  • Essay OR Video submission
Additional Information: The Jack G. Lezman Scholarship Contest is provided annually to encourage students to understand bankruptcy law and its importance to the functioning of the U.S. economy. Awards will be provided to students who demonstrate a concise understanding of how these laws benefit businesses and consumers. Students with demonstrated financial need and students who show an interest in the legal field will also receive additional consideration. Details about the winner(s) including name, school, photograph, video and scholarship awarded may be used in the media and/or used by the Jack G. Lezman & partner organisations for marketing and promotional purposes. Applicants who do not wish to be publicized for promotional purposes must notify the sponsor in writing.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Application instructions and additional information about this award are available online at the Law Office of Jack G. Lezman website. To be considered for this award, students must create an original video of between one to two minutes in length in response to the topic: how bankruptcy laws can promote entrepreneurship and economic growth. Videos must be published publicly to the student's Youtube channel with the title "Jack G. Lezman Scholarship Contest" and a link to the contest within the video description. Alternatively, students may submit an original essay of between 1,000 and 1,500 words in length that describes how lawyers can make the world a better place. Essays should be submitted via email to the provided address. All submissions must be received online no later than the deadline date.
