  2. Must have a recent history of movement for agricultural employment.
  3. Must have completed one or more years at an accredited postsecondary insititution at time of application.

Additional Information: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a deserving student with a history of migrating for employment in agriculture who has successfully completed at least one year of college. This support will cover expenses beyond that which the youth receives through federal, state and other scholarship assistance. The scholarship is designed to assist the youth in obtaining a baccalaureate degree without being encumbered with substantial debt. Each student must demonstrate recent history of movement for agricultural employment, scholastic achievement, financial need, and successful completion of at least one year at an accredited postsecondary institution.

Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually, renewable for up to two additional years at the undergraduate level. As needed, the student will receive financial support not to exceed $2,000 per year for three years for repayment of approved educational loans accrued for postsecondary education resulting in a baccalaureate degree. The student also has the option to apply for two additional years of financial assistance at the same level for graduate studies.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

Applications are available online from the Geneseo Migrant Center (GMC) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a school, community or educational agency representative with a personal knowledge of his/her character and commitment to obtaining a baccalaureate degree; a personal essay of 500 or more words telling about his/her background, career and personal goals, and indicating why he/she should receive this assistance; a copy of his/her college transcript showing the most recent grades obtained; financial need documentation in the form of a copy of the most recent tax return of the applicant or parents, a copy of school financial aid form, or loan documentation; and a copy of his/her current or most recent Migrant Education Certificate of Eligibility (COE). The application and all supporting documents must be submitted by postal mail to the address provided by the deadline date. Please note: Incomplete applications will not be accepted; all required information must be submitted at the same time.
