Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current or former participant in any league properly sanctioned with the National Amateur Baseball Federation.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

Application requirements for the NABF Scholarship Program are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Proof of enrollment
Additional Information: The Germaine and Edward 'Red' Carrington Fund and the Ronald and Irene McMinn Fund are the basis for the overall NABF Scholarship Program. Selection of the award winners will be made by the federation's scholarship fund committee. It will be based on grades, financial need and previous awards to candidates from a sponsoring association. All applicants must be sponsored by a National Amateur Baseball Federation member association. Please note: Successful applicants must submit a head/shoulder picture for publication and proof of enrollment by Nov. 15 before the scholarship check may be issued.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online at the National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF) website. In addition to a completed application, applicants must also submit an official transcript, two letters of recommendation (one from a teacher and the other from the applicant's baseball coach), evidence of college enrollment such as a letter of acceptance, and a concise written statement from the applicant detailing scholastic, athletic and personal achievement, community involvement and any other information in support of the applicant no more than two pages long. Application must be signed by the President of the applicant's NABF Franchised League. Completed applications should be sent to the address provided. Applications and all supported material must be received by the deadline date.
