Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of North Carolina.
  4. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
  5. Must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis.
  6. Must be enrolled at an eligible North Carolina postsecondary institution (UNC campuses, Community College Campuses, Independent College Campuses and certain other private colleges).
  7. Must demonstrate financial need.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for North Carolina undergraduate students who are attending North Carolina colleges or universities. The student must demonstrate financial need by having a federally calculated Expected Family Contribution of $5,000 or less, as determined by the FAFSA.

Additional Information: Eligibility is determined based on the same criteria as the Federal Pell Grant with one exception; students not eligible for the Federal Pell Grant with an estimated family contribution of $5000 or less will be eligible for an Education Lottery Scholarship. Students who have earned baccalaureate (four-year) college degrees are ineligible.

Award Amount: The award amounts range from $100 to $3,000 annually, renewable. Renewal eligibility is determined by the participating institution.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,550.
