Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually depending on the amount of available funding.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  3. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  4. Must be an undocumented migrant in the United States.

Additional Information: Chicano Organizing & Research in Education (CORE) proudly sponsors this annual award to help undocumented students continue on their academic path. This scholarship is a response to the lack of financial aid that undocumented students face every day at their respective college. In particular, CORE seeks to support undocumented students that have met the rigorous academic requirements asked of them and hold the academic promise to achieve so much more. The “Que Llueva Café” Scholarship aims to support the dreams, hopes and aspirations of college bound undocumented students so that they can earn their college education and allow for all of their hard work and sacrifice to persevere. This scholarship program strives to make a world of difference. ¡Ójala que llueva café!

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications and information are available at the Chicano Organizing & Research in Education (CORE) website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: a minimum of one and a maximum of two letters of recommendation; a personal statement based on one of the writing prompts listed on the application; and an official copy of all high school transcripts. Upon selection, scholarship recipients will be required to provide proof of enrollment. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
