In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.
  3. Must be African American.
  4. Must be a high school senior.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must plan to enroll full time.
  7. Must major in one of the following eligible fields: accounting; business; economics; engineering; history; philosophy; political science. Please note: Not every eligible school offers all eligible majors. Students should check the "UKSP Eligible Undergraduate Institutions & Majors" document on the UNCF website to verify their eligibility.
  8. Must plan to attend an eligible college/university. A list of eligible institutions is available on the UNCF website.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors who plan to major in accounting, business, economics, engineering, history, philosophy, or political science at a UNCF member institution. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The UNCF/Koch Scholars Program (UKSP) is designed to teach students how to develop and apply an entrepreneurial mindset by exploring how the study of entrepreneurship, innovation, and economics contribute to well being for individuals, communities, and societies.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Recipients will also have access to an online learning community about entrepreneurship, innovation, and economics; and mentoring opportunities and network access.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in late May for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) website. All required fields, including six essays, must be completed in the online application. In addition, each student must submit the following documents/information within the online application: a high school transcript; a copy of his/her entire Student Aid Report (SAR), which is made available upon completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); and contact information for three references. Please note: References will be provided with instructions for submitting their letters of recommendation. All application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
