Description: This award is available for international students planning to enroll as full-time freshmen at the University of Richmond in Virginia. A student must apply for admission to the University of Richmond before he/she can be considered for a scholarship.

Application requirements for the University of Richmond International Student Need-Based Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • FAFSA
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Standardized test scores
Additional Information: Each year a limited number of need-based financial aid grants are offered to members of the incoming class. Recipients of the grants will generally continue to receive them in the following years. International students who do not receive financial aid their first year will generally not be assisted in following years, unless funds permit. Students are notified of the admission decision and financial aid on or around April 1. A tuition deposit will be due on May 1.

Award Amount: The average grant last year was $46.400. The award is generally renewable for all years of the recipient's study. Please note: The total estimated cost of attendance (COA) at UR is $67,020 for the 2018-2019 academic year. A breakdown of the COA is available at http://financialaid.richmond.edu/prospective/cost.html .  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $46,400.

Financial aid information is available online on the University of Richmond (UR) website. The student must apply for admission to UR in order to be considered for financial aid. To apply for admission, the student must submit the following materials: the Common Application; the Richmond Supplement form; a $50 application fee or acceptable fee waiver form; official high school transcript(s) showing grades 9-11 (with raised school seal or school official's original signature); a recommendation from a guidance counselor or school official (one required, up to three accepted); first semester/trimester senior grades; standardized test scores (ACT or SAT); TOEFL scores, for students whose native language is not English; and the International Financial Certification form. The complete admission application packet is due to UR by Feb. 1. In addition to applying for admission, the student must also complete the 'International Student Financial Aid Application'. He/she must be sure to enter all currency figures on the form in U.S. dollars. The application is provided by the College Board, but should be returned to UR, NOT the College Board.
