Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be attending an accredited law school at least half time.
  2. Must be attending law school pursuing a Juris Doctor.
  3. Student must demonstrate academic achievement.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must demonstrate a commitment to do pro bono and/or public interest legal work.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. students who are the first in their family to attend law school. Applicants must be committed to serving the needs of Asian Pacific American, demonstrate financial need, and be committed to pro bono or public interest legal work.

Application requirements for the UPS/NLF Gold Mountain Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
Additional Information: The applicant may also submit a copy of his/her application to his/her law school for financial assistance. An eligible student must be the first in his/her immediate family to be currently enrolled in, and in good standing, at an American Bar Association (ABA) or Association of American Law Schools (AALS) accredited law school in the United States; have a demonstrated commitment to pro bono and/or public interest legal work; have demonstrated financial need; and a commitment to serving the needs of the Asian Pacific American Community.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit official transcripts, resume, two letters of recommendation, and an essay of no more than 500 words responding to the questions listed on the application. All materials must be submitted online and must be received no later than the deadline date.
