The monetary award amount ranges from $1,000 to $5,000 per scholarship. Scholarship award decisions are made annually, and are not automatically renewable. The applicant may reapply and re-qualify each year if he/she wishes to be considered for additional funding. Available funding and the applicant pool vary every year and there is never any guarantee of an award.

Since its founding in 1972, the JVS Scholarship Fund has awarded $4 million to over 3,000 students. As part of the application process, the applicant may be required to attend a personal interview at JVS in Los Angeles, CA. All interviews will be held in April and May. Primary criteria for scholarship selection are financial need, Jewish community involvement and community service. Award decisions will be made after the scholarship committee has reviewed all applications. Letters announcing award recipients will be mailed in June. Through the granting of academic scholarships, the JVS Scholarship Fund strives to strengthen the Jewish Community by supporting financially needy Jewish students from Los Angeles County in their pursuit of college, graduate, and vocational education.
