Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards available varies. Last year, 400 students received scholarships.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be between the ages of 18 and 24.
  3. Must have been in foster care for 12 consecutive months before turning 18; OR adopted or placed into legal guardianship after turning 16; OR must have been orphaned for at least one year prior to turning 18.
  4. Must be a resident of the United States.
  5. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited college or university.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: These undergraduate scholarships range from $2,500-$5,000 based on a combination of need and merit. $1,500 provides books and supplies for one student for one year. $2,500 helps a community college student attend classes for one year. $5,000 helps a university student attend classes for one year.

Additional Information: $2,500-$5,000 based on a combination of need and merit. Renewable for up to five years if the student remains compliant with program requirements. Applicants must: • Have been in public or private foster care for the 12 consecutive months leading up to and including their 18th birthday; OR have been adopted or placed into legal guardianship after their 16th birthday; OR have been orphaned for at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday and not subsequently adopted • Be under the age of 25 on March 31 of the year in which they apply if they have not previously received scholarship funding from Foster Care to Success • Have been in foster care or orphaned while living in the United States. U.S. citizenship is not required. • Have been accepted into or expect to be accepted into an accredited, Pell-eligible college or other postsecondary school

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 scholarships offered.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
