Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually depending on the funds available. Last year, four scholarships were awarded (one in each of the four scouting regions).
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must have an SAT score of 1200 or higher and/or an ACT score of 28 or higher.
  3. Must plan to enroll as a full time student.
  4. Must be an Eagle Scout and have received credentials from the national office.
  5. Must be a male.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior planning to enter college in the year that the scholarship is applied for. Scholarships are awarded only to those who graduate from high school in the calendar year in which scholarships are presented. *Please note: Scouts whose Eagle Scout boards of review are held the same year of their high school graduation may apply in that calendar year. They may receive a scholarship one time only.
  7. Must be majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Application requirements for the National Eagle Scout Association Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: The scholarships are not available to students attending any of the U.S. military academies, because at these academies, expenses covered by NESA scholarships are already paid by the United States government.

Award Amount: $50,000 annually, non-renewable. Please note: This amount can also vary annually depending on the funds available. These funds may be used for tuition, room, board, and books; and may be used only as long as the recipient maintains full-time enrollment status.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $200,000.
