Number of Awards & Eligibility: Unspecified number of recipients get a scholarship of up to $45,000.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a current U.S. or Canadian citizen or legal resident, or resident alien eligible to work in the United States or Canada.
  2. Must also have completed work toward a Ph.D.
  3. Must be a female.

Description: The fellowship is designed for assisting women in making a transition back into a professional career. Consequently, funds are generally not available for renewal beyond one year of support. Applicants must be a U.S. or Canadian citizens or legal residents and have completed work toward a Ph.D.

Application requirements for the M. Hildred Blewett Fellowship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • A letter of institutional support.
Additional Information: The fellowship intends to assist women in making a transition back into a professional physics research career. The fellowship consists of a one-year award of up to $45,000. Allowed expenses include dependent care (limited to 50% of the award), salary, travel, equipment, and tuition and fees. Overhead charges by the institution are not allowed. The award was established from a generous bequest from M. Hildred Blewett, an accelerator physicist who died in 2004. Hildred Blewett was passionate about physics and wanted to help women overcome obstacles by establishing the fellowship.

Award Amount: The winner of the M. Hildred Blewett Fellowship will receive a one-year award of up to $45,000. non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $45,000.
