Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a female.
  3. Must be a resident of one of the following western states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.
  4. Must be enrolled in an eligible two- or four-year degree program. Please note: Students planning to graduate prior to December 2018 are not eligible.
  5. Must study surveying (or a closely related field).
  6. Must be enrolled part time or full time.

Description: This scholarship is for U.S. and international female undergraduate students pursuing two- or four-year degrees in surveying. The applicant must be a resident of one of the following western states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY.

Additional Information: Please note: This scholarship is awarded in odd-numbered years only. Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: academic record, 30 percent; applicant's statement, 30 percent; letters of recommendation, 20 percent; professional activities, 20 percent. Degree of financial need will be used, if necessary, to break ties, after the primary criteria have been considered.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available on the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following materials: a brief, yet complete, statement indicating educational objectives, future plans of study or research, professional activities, and financial need; three or more letters of recommendation (at least two from faculty members familiar with his/her work); a complete, original, official transcript through the end of the school year prior to when the award will be presented; and a copy of his/her unofficial transcript for the fall semester (as soon as it is available). For this scholarship only, the student must also submit proof of legal home residence. Please note: The applicant must be a student member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) to qualify for this award. The applicant may apply for membership in NSPS at the time of application. The applicant should mail all materials in one envelope. Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted. Incomplete or improperly completed applications will be discarded. Applications must arrive at NSPS headquarters no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted.
