Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and Canadian students who submit an essay of 600 to 800 words on the importance of travel and studying abroad.

Additional Information: The Owner Direct Vacation Rentals Study Away Scholarship is provided annually to encourage students to think about the importance and potential benefits of travel and study abroad. Submissions will be evaluated based on the strength of essay submissions in these categories: content; style; inspiration; creativity; and persuasiveness. Students should emphasize the importance of travel and studying abroad for expanding perspectives and introducing new ideas. One winner will be selected to receive a scholarship each year. The winner and his/her essay submission will be posted to the Owner's Direct blog.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable. Scholarships may be used for study abroad or other travel expenses such as airfare, accomodation, or other outings & excursions.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Application instructions and additional information about this scholarship can be found online at the provider website. To be considered for an award, students must write an original essay of no more than 800 words in length on the topic of why travel is important. Essays must be saved in PDF format and must be submitted as an email attachment sent to the listed email address. Emails must also include the following applicant information: name; college he or she is enrolled at; mailing address; and documentation confirming enrollment in the upcoming academic year. All submissions must be received by email and must be received no later than the deadline date.
