Description: The Marvel Optics Essay Writing Scholarship is available for full-time U.S. undergraduate students who publish an original essay or video in response to the current year's topic. Additional Information: The Marvel Optics Essay Writing Scholarship is offered to encourage students to think about the importance of sight, as well as vision. The sponsor recognizes the value of education and hard work and seeks to reward students who share similar values. Students are encouraged to promote their social media postings so as to encourage likes, shares, comments, and other interactions. Post popularity may be one of the factors considered by judges during the award selection process.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable. Funds will be paid directly to the student's college or university using the student ID# and Financial Aid Office address provided in the application.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

The Marvel Optics Essay Writing Scholarship is provided twice annually to students who create an oustanding essay or video submission in response to the following topic prompt: Helen Keller said, "The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision." What does that mean to you? Complete application instructions and guidelines are available using the provided link. To be considered, students must submit an original essay or video that responds creatively to the subject prompt. Essays may be up to 300 words in length, and videos may be up to one minute in duration. Essays or videos must be posted to the applicant's account on one of the following social media platforms: Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Youtube, and must include a link back to Marvel Optics as described in the application instructions. Upon publication of the essay or video, students must complete the Content Contribution Agreement available at the Marvel Optics website. The completed agreement must be submitted as an email attachment to the provided email address, and the body of the email must include the following information about the applicant: his/her full name; email address; phone number; current school; major; graduation date; student ID number; and the address of his or her financial aid office. All submissions must be received by email no later than the deadline date. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
