  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must reside in the fifty United States, the District of Columbia, or territories and possessions of the United States.
  3. Must be 16 years of age or older.

Description: This video contest is open to students ages 16 and older who are residents of the United States, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories and possessions. Additional Information: Qualified individuals will select finalists whose submissions will then be posted on the contest website, the contest YouTube profile, and the Intellectual Property Owners (IPO) Education Foundation's Facebook fan page. Voting will be open to the public within the first week of August and will remain open for two weeks to determine one winner in each of the age groups. There will be a limit of one vote per person or email address. In the event of a tie in the online voting, the tied videos will be judged by qualified individuals.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. In addition to the cash prizes and scholarships, IPO Education Foundation reserves the right at its sole discretion to award each of the winners with a trip for two to the Foundation Awards Dinner. The trip consists of round-trip coach airfare from the major airport nearest each winner's residence, two-night hotel accommodations (double room), ground transportation, meals and other expenses.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Entry forms are available online on the IP Video Contest website. To enter the contest, students must submit an orginal video that addresses a specific issue regarding the importance of the patent system. The student may choose to answer any one of the four questions listed on the "Rules" tab of the website. The video must be no more than 90 seconds in length, and must be compressed into a digital file of no more than 100 mb to submit online. The following file formats are acceptable: .wmv, .avi, .mov, .mp4, and .mpg. Additional requirements are listed in the "Rules" tab. In addition to uploading his/her video to the online entry form, the student must also upload a completed "Assignment of Copyright" form and a completed "Talent Release" form for each person that appears in his/her video. Forms are provided on the entry form for download. Completed entry forms must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
