Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. In 2015, 14 scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a graduate degree program.
  4. Must be majoring in hospitality management OR have an undergraduate degree in hospitality management and/or four years employment in the lodging industry after graduation.
  5. Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. graduate students who are studying hospitality management, or have an undergraduate degree in hospitality management and/or four years of work experience in the lodging industry. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: After receiving many requests for graduate scholarships, AH&LEF began offering a scholarship exclusively for graduate students in 2008. Students are evaluated based on academics, related work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need, honors, and personal attributes.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in November for a refreshed application deadline date.All students must apply via the AH&LEF online application. The student need only complete one application to apply for all scholarships for which he/she is eligible.As part of the online application, the student must provide the following supporting materials: an essay of 500 words or less describing his/her personal background; financial information, to include anticipated expenses for the upcoming academic year, financial data from his/her most recent tax return, and financials to date; his/her most recent college, high school, or GED transcript that includes a cumulative grade point average based upon a 4.0 scale (strongly advised to upload transcript to application); and two letters of recommendation, one from an instructor and one from an employer (strongly advised to upload letters to application).Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on the deadline date.
