Number of Awards & Eligibility: varies. In 2019, 23 scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must have been diagnosed with, or have an immediate family member (parent, grandparent, sibling, child) who has been diagnosed with esophageal or stomach cancer.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must have a combined math and verbal SAT score of 1000 or higher, or an ACT score of 21 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for students in California who have been diagnosed or personally affected by a family member's diagnosis of cancer. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: The DLH Foundation was established in memory of Deana LaRae Hughes, who passed away in 2007 at age 39 after battling a rare and pernicious form of gastro-esophageal cancer. Deana’s commitment to supporting her favorite charities, including student organizations, inspired the Foundation to provide scholarships for deserving students. The DLH Foundation’s mission is to create a community and help to find a cure.

Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $46,000.
