Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must enroll full time.
  5. Must be a current college sophomore or junior who will be a college junior or senior beginning fall 2018, or a graduate student enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university. Students from an accredited vocational-technical school or program are also eligible.
  6. Must pursue a program of study that is related to the hydropower industry such as engineering, sciences (biology, fisheries, and hydrology), communications or environmental studies.

Description: This award is open to U.S. college sophomores, juniors, and graduate students enrolled full time in a program of study that is related to the hydropower industry: engineering, sciences (biology, fisheries, and hydrology), communications, and environmental studies. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Past Presidents’ Legacy Scholarship Program are:

  • Application form
  • Essay
  • Transcript
Additional Information: The recipient of the scholarship will be invited to the NHA annual conference in Washington, D.C. to accept the award in front of 500 leaders within the hydropower industry. The recipient will also be given free admission to all parts of the conference in April.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
